This week’s theme ‘Isolation’.
Photography is as much about what we exclude from the frame as it is about what we include. ~ David DuChemin
The goal this week was to isolate our subject within the scene using a longer ‘telephoto’ type lens. To give you an example of the scene we were working with, I photographed the first 2 images with a shorter wide’ angle lens. This allows the viewer to see more of the scene but does not isolate the subject. My idea was to have Juno surrounded by beautiful bright colors with no space in between. This was not possible with a short ‘wide’ lens (see image below). I have been eyeing this colorful location for weeks now and so happy I could play with a few ideas!
I even tried a different angle of view, but no luck. Still too many distracting elements in the background…
Voila! The vision for the image “I dream in colour” was possible by using my longer ‘telephoto’ lens! Beautiful lines and colours with my sweet subject in the middle!
And playing with a triadic colour scheme…
